When She Became I

when she became I
it became me
she was no longer a child
but was set free
to be
me

  1. Linda, I love what you are saying here, but the word "it" in the second line has me a little confused.

Some people are treated as objects, museum pieces... to be pictures on the wall, "little adults," but not encouraged to be the unique, living, creative, creations they truly are... a creation-in-the-making. So, they may be referred to as a "he" or "she" but thought of or treated as an "it"... an object, almost like a non-person. I was basically saying that I was no longer controlled by another... as a rag doll, slave, peon, puppet-on-a-string, but became... me... or, an "I"... a unique, individual, creation.

Do you have a suggestion for making the second line more clear?

    Thanks for your comments, Dale!
